Mental Health Runner Program
Running for Mental Well-Being
Movement can be a powerful tool for supporting mental health. At Still I Run, we believe that running doesn’t have to be fast, competitive, or perfect to make a difference. Sometimes the most meaningful step is simply showing up.
The Mental Health Runner Program is a free program that was created to help people build a running routine that supports their mental well-being. Whether you’re starting from scratch or returning to running after time away, the program offers guidance, structure, and encouragement along the way.
Through this program, participants learn how running can become a sustainable part of caring for their mental health.
Because every step forward is a step towards well-being.
A Program Designed to Support Your Mental Health
The Mental Health Runner Program focuses on helping participants build a relationship with running that supports their overall well-being.
Instead of focusing on speed or performance, the program emphasizes:
-
Building consistent movement habits
-
Reflecting on how running impacts mental health
-
Developing confidence through small, sustainable progress
-
Creating a routine that supports both mind and body
Participants explore the connection between movement and mental health while learning practical tools to help them stay consistent and motivated.
At Still I Run, we often say “Forward is a pace.” This program is designed to help participants keep moving forward in their own way.

“Without this program and the people involved in helping me achieve growth, I would have been at home, sitting on my couch, afraid to get up and try.”

Two Ways to Participate
The Mental Health Runner Program includes two different opportunities to participate. Both options are built around the same goal: helping individuals use running as a tool to support their mental well-being.
Self-Guided Program
Mental Health Runner
The Self-Guided Program is designed for individuals anywhere in the United States* who want to start running for mental health but may face barriers to getting started.
Participants receive the tools they need to begin their running journey, including:
-
Free running shoes
-
A Still I Run technical running shirt
-
A guided 12-week Mental Health Runner workbook
-
Beginner-friendly training plans and reflection exercises
The program is completed independently, allowing participants to move through the 12-week experience at their own pace.

Cohort Program
The Cohort Program provides a more structured, in-person experience for individuals who want to build their running routine alongside others.
Participants move through the program together as a group, creating a supportive environment where people can connect, share experiences, and encourage one another.
Cohorts include:
-
Group runs and training sessions
-
Guided discussions about mental health and movement
-
Support from program facilitators and peers
-
A structured path through the Mental Health Runner curriculum
Cohort programs are offered in select locations.

Who the
Mental Health Runner Program Is For
The program welcomes people from many different backgrounds and experiences. Some participants are brand new to running, while others are returning after time away.
This program may be a good fit if you:
-
Want to start running but aren’t sure where to begin
-
Believe movement could help support your mental health
-
Are looking for a structured way to build a running routine
-
Want to explore the connection between running and mental well-being
Participants come to the program for many different reasons, but they share one thing in common: a willingness to take the next step.
Why Running?
Many people find that running helps them clear their mind, process emotions, and create space in their day to focus on themselves.
Running can support mental well-being by helping people:
-
Reduce stress and anxiety
-
Improve mood and emotional resilience
-
Build confidence and self-trust
-
Create a consistent routine that supports overall wellness
For many participants, running becomes more than just exercise. It becomes a meaningful part of how they care for their mental health.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Still I Run exists to remind people that they are not alone in their mental health journey.
Through programs like Mental Health Runner, we create spaces where individuals can explore movement as a tool for well-being while connecting with others who understand the journey.
Whether you choose the Self-Guided Program or a Cohort experience, you’ll be joining a community that believes every story and every pace belongs.
